An analysis environment for exploring imported timelines and collaborating on findings. Treat the importer, event schema, source export, and analysis workspace as distinct parts of the method.
Which parts of this timeline are source facts and which are analyst-created context?
Tags, comments, stories, and saved searches help an investigation but do not originate in the evidence. Keep them distinguishable from extracted events. A persuasive sequence assembled in a workspace is still an interpretation that must withstand contrary observations and clock uncertainty.
Preserve a reproducible analysis
Retain source imports with their hashes, importer configuration, relevant schema mapping, analysis changes, and the produced export. If multiple users contribute, preserve the available change history appropriate to the review question. Keep access controls consistent with the sensitivity of the imported data.
A useful validation question
Use a small import with known timestamps, time zones, and field values. Check how displayed times, searches, and exports transform them. Compare a material finding back to the original source instead of using the workspace as a substitute for that source.
