A shell for interacting with SQLite databases. The shell’s current documentation and the database producer’s schema are separate references: SQL can read a value without explaining what an application intended it to mean.

Does the examined database state include the transactions relevant to this collection?

A database file can have relevant write-ahead-log or journal context depending on mode and acquisition state. Row timestamps and identifiers must be interpreted using the producing application, not generic column names. A successful query does not show that the collected database was a complete or consistent live snapshot.

Preserve a reproducible analysis

Preserve the collected database and appropriate companion files together, recording acquisition conditions and hashes. Conduct analysis on controlled working copies. Opening a database in ordinary software can have side effects, so document how the analysis method avoided or accounted for changes.

A useful validation question

Use a controlled database with known rows and relevant transaction states. Compare query output with the expected schema and capture conditions. Distinguish a query error, inaccessible file, unsupported extension, and a genuinely empty result.
